What's Going On?

We are investigating whether Securus intercepted, recorded, and retained private calls, video visits, messages, and biometric identifiers, then used those communications and biometrics for analytics, artificial intelligence, and other commercial purposes beyond what Washington law allows.

Why This Matters

In December 2025, Securus's president publicly stated that the company had "built an AI model based on years of text, phone and video calls from prison inmates." We allege that this admission confirms Securus retained and used incarcerated people's communications - including biometric identifiers - for its own commercial purposes, far beyond the limited correctional uses Washington law permits.

Our investigation seeks to identify everyone whose communications or biometric identifiers were used this way so we can ask the court to stop the practice and pursue compensation and other relief under Washington's privacy and consumer protection statutes.

Who May Be Part of the Class?

"All people in Washington DOC facilities, and all outside contacts who communicated with them through the Securus platform, whose communications or biometric identifiers were kept, shared, or used for commercial/analytic purposes in ways we challenge in this case (from January 12, 2022 to present)."

Is This a Lawsuit?
